元小说理论中,有“作者出面”的说法。从叙事学的观点来看,这种说法是不成立的。元小说叙事中的叙事者决不是作者本人,而是作为情节中的人物出现的名为“作者”的叙事者。出面的是叙事者,而不是作者。

There is ＂the presence of author＂in the theory of metafiction, which is not true, From the point of narrative view. The narrator in metafiction is by no mears the author himself, however,he is one of the characters in the fiction named an author. The one present is the narrator, not the author.
