Historic Preservation and the Difficulty of Authenticity

关于历史保护,在解决了历史建筑的“生死”之争后,我们仍然面临着一个很大的挑战:保护的原真性问题。对于这个问题是否存在某种正确的答案?我们如何才能得到这个答案?本文回顾了19世纪至20世纪早期欧洲历史保护理论中关于这个问题的重要争论,其目的并非就此获得一种正确的解答,而是试图指出,现代意义的保护观念与实践其实是一种诠释历史建筑在我们这个时代的意义与价值的独特方式。

For the historic preservation, we are still facing a great challenge after we have answered the question of ＂to be or not to be＂： the problem of authenticity. Is there any good answer and how could we get it？ Theories on historic preservation in the 19th and the early 20^th centuries in Europe raised a significant argument for this problem. The aim to understand this argument here is not to catch any right answers but to realize that the historic preservation in modern sense is somehow a way to interpret the values of the historic buildings in our own time.
