叶嘉莹先生的古典诗歌研究始终贯穿着她对中国古典诗歌本质特征的独到理解和阐述。她的研究从对诗歌文本的阐释出发而上升到诸多理论问题的探讨,在借鉴西方现代文学理论对中国古典诗论进行深刻反思的同时,又结合中国传统知人论世理论并关注诗歌发展史的线索,从而呈现出一种感性与理性交融、传统与现代结合、历史与逻辑统一的立体结构。

Mr Ye Jiaying＇ s unique understanding of and expounding on classical Chinese poetry run through her entire study process. Proceeding from the analysis of poetry itself, she goes further exploring many issues at the theoretical level. In reflecting upon the theory of classical Chinese poetry, she draws on modem western literature theories on the one hand, and follows the tradition of understanding one＇ s works by referring to his background as well as keeps an eye on the development process of poetry on the other, thus bringing forth in her studies a stereoscopic landscape characterized by the well integration of sense and sensibility, tradition and modernity, history and logic,
