Dialogue with Prof.M.Prestwich on the Study of Constitutional History of Medieval Britain

摘要 It is the dialogue between author and Prof.M.Prestwich who works in Durham University.Prestwich approves that Stubbs and his Oxford School made a great contribution in the study of constitutional history,but he advices people shouldn’t blindly follow his outmoded views.He doesn’t think there are so much color of democracy in the constitutional history of Britain,and thought the so called feudal contact on the monarchy were limited,and the idea of “the king below the law” is in fact inconsistent with the political reality of Britain.By law the monarchy is limited by the parliament,but in fact the function of power is dependent on the balance of the political powers between the king and his subjects.
