Taking The Brief Guide to the Genealogy of the Hu Family of the Longing Branch as a center, the article penetratingly probes into the process, contents and forms of the compilation of the Genealogy of Huizhou （the popular edition） from the last years of the Qing Dynasty to the first years of the Republic.
