In The Dream of Red Pavilion, Wang Xifeng was described as a shrew, which was once cast aside by numbers of scholars who are engaged in the study of this work. In fact, the shrewishness of Wang not only challenged males＇ authority but also embodied females＇ self- consciousness. From a male＇ s angle of view it is the cultural root which formed this figure.
