艳体乐府诗是指内容香软、风格艳丽的乐府诗。它的首次兴盛是在梁、陈至初唐时期。到了中晚唐,李贺、张祜、温庭筠、李商隐等人又大力写作艳体乐府诗,使艳体乐府诗复兴。其复兴的原因:一是补写六朝宫廷乐歌,一是模仿六朝乐府诗。中晚唐的艳体乐府诗基本上已不入乐,多是借南朝兴衰之史针贬现实。尽管他们四人都写艳体乐府诗,但在新旧题的运用和表现风格上有所不同。

However, it worthy notes that the Gorgeous Yue- fu poems written by the four former poets are in different style and on different subjects.
