W. T. Sherman developed the idea of Total Warfare by combining the destruction of the enemy＇ s economic resources with the psychological attack. He used terror as a weapon. During his army＇s Drive to the Ocean, he carried on the policy of ＂bum all, kill all, loot all＂ and made the economy of the Confederate States to go bankrupt . He has many new ideas on the military problems such as ＂using war to eliminate war＂ . Politically, he hates the slavery. Tactically, he has superb commanding art. Mter Civil War, he made a large contribution to the military professional construction in the US.
