日本建筑师从社会学、人类学、环境行为学、心理学等观点出发,为了消除现代社会生活方式的改变、家庭观念的变化和家庭结构小型化的趋势对家庭养老环境的冲击和对家庭养老功能的削弱,逐步将日本高龄者公寓从混住型的老年公寓,发展到能够适应人在一生中各阶段变化的“通用住宅”。致力于在普通住宅中搞好对应老龄化的“潜伏设计”。

Starting from the sociology, anthropology, environment ethology and psychology, etc. and for eliminating the impulse to the environment for living in retirement at home, which comes from the change of social life style, the conversion of family idea and the miniaturization of family structure, Japanese architects gradually develop the senior citizens ＇apartment from mixed habitation type to ＂universal house＂ adapted to the use of different periods of a person＇s life and this is the ＂latent design ＂for the ageing society.
