This article focuses on the young generation of Japanese architects from the 1960s era. This generation of architects was faced with a tough growing environment after the bursting of the bubble economy, which resulted in the uniqueness of their work trajectory. Abandoning idiosyncratic heroism in architectural design, they began paying more attention to their surrounding environment, adopting "modest" architectural strategies categorized in this essay as "unit" phenomenon, "super-flat" phenomenon and attention to architecture's outer layer and transparency. By focusing on events, from the perspectives of building construction and architectural criticism, this paper attempts to draw a rough outline of the situation.
