On the Characters’ Personalities and Relationships in Sunrise in Pragmatics Approach

文章选取著名戏剧作品《日出》中的一个片段,运用话语分析理论的合作原则、礼貌原则、话轮转换等语用学理论来分析戏剧人物的性格特点以及人物间的相互关系,从而说明语用学理论和方法在一定程度上可以为戏剧研究提供新的切入点,可以更准确地解读作品和人物。

This paper is in an attempt to analyze the character traits in a selection of Chinese drama Sunrise and illustrate the character relationships by discourse analysis, especially by co-operation principles, politeness principles and turn-taking. The aim of the paper is to show that pragmatics theory and approach can, in some degree, offer a new perspective to the studies of drama which may help readers to understand the drama woks and characters more accurately.
