摘要
为了比较L1和L2记叙文的修辞特征,随机选取两个班的英语专业三年级学生,采用看图作文的方法,分别写作汉英文记叙文,并进行对比分析。结果表明:L1和L2修辞特征既相同也存在差异。两者宏观结构基本相同;时间定位比较具体,空间定位比较笼统;直接语言和道德语言的使频度都较低。L1和L2的差异表现在L1有一半以上对中心人物和次要人物都有详细交代;L1组背景信息丰富,L2则很少;在描述故事情节时,L1组用词华丽;L2组则平铺直叙。这些差异不能支持Lee以汉语社团L2作文为研究对象而得出的研究结论。
This contrastive study examines rhetoric of Chinese (L1) and English (L2) narratives by two groups of ESL students at Zhejiang Forestry University. Findings suggest similarity in global structure time and spatial identification, and low frequency of use of direct statements and moral statements. However, the two groups show striking differences in rhetoric options. L1 writings adopt a more elaborate approach in character identification, present richer background information and focus more on vivid description. The differences cannot support some .of Lee' s findings about Chinese narrative rhetoric, which are based on L2 writings of Chinese students.
