“启蒙运动”的另一种诉求——“新人文主义”及其在中国高等教育中的实践

A new meditation on "enlightment movement":——"new humanism" and its practice in the advanced education of China

美国哈佛大学教授白璧德的“新人文主义”文化观,对其中国弟子影响至深,颇为适合他们反思中国传统文化与重建中国文化、启蒙国民性的需要。面对新文化运动中激进的反传统倾向,以吴宓为代表的文化保守主义者,坚持走人文主义启蒙之路,将新人文主义思想运用于高等教育实践,对东南学风、清华国学研究院与外文系的教育产生了深远影响,在中国高等教育发展史上具有重要的意义。

Irving Babbitt, a famous professor of Harvard University, and his new hu- manist perspective in culture had great impact on his Chinese adherents, because this new speculation in culture could exactly meet the needs of Chinese followers for their rethinking of the traditional Chinese culture, the reconstruction of Chinese culture, and the national enlightment movement. Facing the radical anti-tradition tendency in the New Culture Movement, Wu Bi and other culture conservatives stuck to the way of humanist enlightment, embedding the ideas of New Humanism in the practice of Chinese advanced education, which left great and far-reaching positive impact on the study attitudes of south-east China, on the ment of Chinese advanced University. And this has got its significant position in the develop ced education.
