Objective To explore the value of assessing the fingertip's small vascular flow of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods All the examinees were divided into 3 groups: group Ⅰ (normal control, 32 cases), group Ⅱ (SLE patients treated with glucocorticoid or immunosuppressant, 17 cases), group Ⅲ (untreated SLE patients, 14 cases). High frequency ultrasonography combined with eFlow imaging was used to display the course and distribution of small vessels at middle fingertip of the right hand. And then the ratio of pixels in vascular and nail bed was calculated. Results (1) In normal control group, the branches, ramus anastomoticus and vascular net of fingertip could be displayed clearly and continuously by eFlow imaging. (2)To SLE patients, especially in group Ⅲ , the definition and continuity of fingertip's small vascular flow images was not as good as that in normal control group, and the distribution of blood flow decreased. (3)In group , group 0282 and groupⅢ , the ratio of pixels in vascular and nail bed showed the trend of decrease, and statistical differences were found among ratios from three groups (P〈0.05). Conclusion High frequency ultrasonography combined with eFlow imaging provide a high-sensitive and nice-resolution tool to detect fingertip's small vascular flow in the patients with SLE.
