Heavy-lift vessels have a unique place in the oil and gas industry, lifting and transporting other craft and colossal multi-tonnage items of heavy engineering around the world＇s oceans. They are designed and built to load, carry and discharge unusually shaped items that are not self-propelled or cannot fit onto more conventional ships. Typically they may have a crane capable of lifting 100 tonnes or more in a single lift.
