This paper outlines the fundamental concepts concerning the digital imaging process, its characteristics, priori ties and achievements together with equipment and materials used. Based on the digital imaging process,a new generation of imaging systemes were developed, and are creating new frontiers of the state-of-the-arts imaging technology for different walks of life e. g. cinematography, television, printing,telecommunications etc..
