摘要
托马斯.哈代的小说《德伯家的苔丝》中女主人公苔丝是“从罪孽中得到救赎”的“中介新娘”———《圣经》原型形象。这一形象既保留了最基本的《圣经》叙事单元和人物原型,又经过作者的艺术加工,带上了现代人的痛苦和反思。这个“中介新娘”原型形象反映了哈代对僵化的宗教道德说教的鞭笞以及对博爱、牺牲等宗教精神的讴歌,具有丰富、深刻的现代内涵。
The heroine Tess in Tess of the DUrbervilles by Thomas Hardy reveals an archetype in the Bible, that is, "bride medium" that "atones for the sin". This image has maintained not only the basic narration in the Bible and its archetype but also the misery and reflections of modern man through Hardy's artistic creation. This archetype with its rich modern implications reveals Hardy's attacks on the ossified religious morals and praise of such religious ideas as sacrifice and universal fraternity.
