The Cornerstone of a Harmonious Society:Equal Stress on Equality and Efficiency

中国共产党第十六届五中全会强调要加强社会主义和谐社会建设,采取有力措施调节社会各阶层人民的收入,更加注重社会公平。我们认为,要达到这一目的,必须在公平与效率并重的基础上,完善社会主义保障体系,使党中央的要求落到实处,使全体人民共享改革开放的成果。这是保持共产党员先进性的一种体现。

The Fifth Session of the Party＇s 16th Congress emphasizes the enhancement of building a socialist harmonious society, takes forceful measures to adjust the incomes of the people at all levels, and lays stress on social equality. The paper holds that in order to achieve this aim we should, on the basis of equal stress on equality and efficiency, perfect the socialist guarantee system to implement the Party＇ s demands and to make the whole people to enjoy the fruits of the reform and the opening to the outside world, which is the embodiment of keeping the Party members＇ advancement.
