Major Achievements of the Tenth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Remaining Issues ofthe Party

越共“十大”以20年革新开放创获的成就、积累的经验、存在的问题和面对的挑战为背景,在高度民主的氛围中召开。“十大”继承了“六大”以来的革新开放路线,制定了今后5年的发展规划,在“党员从事私营经济”等问题上取得了新的突破,选举产生了吐故纳新的中央领导班子。大会闭幕后,能否同步深化经济体制和政治体制革新,在遏制腐败现象和推动经济发展两大方面开创新局面,乃“十大”班子面临的重大课题。

To highlight the achievements and the experiences that Vietnam has gamed through 20 years reform and opening-up and to resolve the remaining problems and the challenges, the Tenth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was held in a highly democratic atmosphere. The Congress, through carrying forward the policy of reform and opening-up since its Sixth National Congress, formulated the next five years＇ development program, made breakthroughs in issues such as ＂Party Members＇ engagement in private-ownership economy＂ and newly elected the top members of the Central Committee. After the conclusion of the Congress, there still remain the issues of how to deepen the economic reform and the political reform and how to reach a new height in combating corruption and promoting economic development.
