摘要
本文简要阐述了《新时代汉英大词典》中例证的翻译原则,指出编者提供的例证译文间或存在硬译与误译,语法欠妥,不够简洁,逻辑勉强和正、误译夹杂等五个方面的不足。结合例证译文,作者阐述了自己的观点,并提供了参考译文。
The paper briefly sets forth the principles of example translation in New-Age Chinese-English Dictionary, and points out the demerits that editors can not neglect： word-for-word translation; ungrammaticality; non-conciseness; illogicality; mixing correct versions with wrong ones. The author finally comes up with his own reference translations.
