摘要
本文分析了语言教师在英语课堂教学中较少采用文学作品的原因。它反映了语言研究和文学研究的历史性分歧,从而限制了文学在语言教学中的作用。然而,在课堂上文学教材的采用,不仅能使之成为语言教学的一种有力的工具,而且还可为学习者提供更多的理解和掌握语言知识与训练交际技巧的机会。本文还阐述了语言课堂中综合教授文学方法的基本原理,其前提就是文学是语言,而语言也的确能成为文学性的。
This article analyzes the reasons why language teachers seldom use literature as the texts in the EFL classroom. It reflects a historic divergence between the study of language and the study of literature, which led to the limited role of literature in the EFL classroom. However, the use of literary texts in the EFL classroom can not only be a powerful tool of English language teaching but also offer the learners more opportunities to understand and master the language knowledge and to practice language communicative skills. This article also describes a rationale for an integrated approach to teaching literature in the language classroom based on the promise that literature is language and language can indeed be literary.
