Re-cognizing the Rendering of English Metaphor from English to Chinese

通过对英语隐喻认识的今昔对比,阐释,举例说明了隐喻认识的一些新特点、新观点。根据隐喻认识的新理论,参照神似、形似翻译标准,提出了英语隐喻汉译的几种方法。

This paper explains and illustrates some new characteristics and ideas concerning the understanding of metaphor by comparing the cognition of metaphor in old time and now. Enlightened by the new theory of cognizing metaphor and on the basis of the translation criteria, a few methods for translating English metaphor into Chinese are suggested.
