By introducing the fully developed modes of operations of London Gold Market and New York Mercantile Exchange, the two typical gold markets, this paper points out that China should develop its gold market with reference to international practice. On one hand, the functions of exchange markets need to be improved; on the other hand, a multi-layered OTC gold market should be established.
