Code-Switching in A Surrounded City: A Pragmatic Adaptability Approach

文章在对钱钟书的小说《围城》中的语码转换现象分类统计的基础上,运用Verschueren(1999)提出的语用顺应理论,阐释语码转换对作品人物塑造的独特作用,进而指出将语码转换研究与文学批评相结合的必要性和可能性。

Based upon a statistical analysis of code-switching in A Surrounded City by Qian Zhong-shu, this paper applies the theory of pragmatic adaptability to analyzing the unique functions of code-switching in the characterization in the novel. Then the paper puts forward the necessity and possibility of integrating the study of code-switching with literary criticism.
