Politeness Principle and Differences Between English and Chinese Polite Language

本文通过对礼貌原则进行初步解析,提出礼貌原则并非通用,要受到各国文化的影响,是各国文化影响的产物,具有文化决定性。英汉礼貌用语的不同反映了英汉文化的差异性。

This paper, through a rudimentary analysis of politeness principle, holds that politeness principle is not in common use and that it is the product of different countries＇ cultural influence. Politeness principle is of cultural decision. In the process of communication, people take account of politeness principle and at the same time look for cultural adaptation.
