纽马克的翻译类型学

On Peter Newmark’s Translation Typology

纽马克的翻译类型学以布勒的语言功能理论为基础,并明显受到赖斯的影响。本文从纽马克的《一种翻译途径》、《翻译途径》及《翻译教程》等著作入手,分析了纽马克的翻译类型学,并将其与赖斯的模式进行比较。研究表明,纽马克的翻译类型学对赖斯的模式作了一定的调整;在翻译策略上,前者更灵活,相对也复杂得多;在文学翻译方法上,纽马克比赖斯更为详尽。

This paper investigates Peter Newmark＇ s translation typology through the analysis of several of his important works, namely, ＂An Approach to translation＂, ＂Approaches to Translation＂ and ＂A Textbook of Translation＂. Peter Newmark＇ s translation typology, though based on Karl Btthler＇ s language function, is obviously influenced by Reiss ; their similarities and differences are also explored in this paper. The study indicates that Newmark＇ s translation typology is, to a certain degree, an amendment of Reiss＇ s model; the former is more flexible and complex in terms of translation strategies and more detailed in terms of literary translation methods.
