Inherent Values of the System and Survival Concept of Modern Society

任何一个社会都不能缺少整体性的价值理性共识,它表现为社会成员基于对该社会制度安排的合法性积极认同基础上的自觉、自律的行为风范的表现,因此其构成文明、公正、健康的现代政治国家的核心治理理念,同时也是现代公民社会健全发育之最重要的内在结构性因素之一。市场经济“理性经济人”之偏狭的“工具理性”预设,决定了其很难形成“社会—文化人”的公共价值体验与情怀。当代中国社会转型过程中所出现的“公共领域”与“私人领域”分立,客观上使有关“公共事业”的使命、责任等问题被提到了重要议事日程,意味着必须重塑以“群体互惠与意义共享”为价值目标的自愿的“公民社会共同体”的生存信念,并将其作为一种理想的新制度价值理念的选择。

No society can survive without a rational consensus among its members about values. This is indicated by the people＇s conscious and self-regulated behaviors based on their identity with the legal arrangement of the social system. A civilized, just and healthy concept of administration of a modern political state is thus established. This is also a crucial and internal structural factor for the proper development of a modern civil society. Under circumstances of the market economy, the biased assumption about the ＂instrumental sense＂ of the ＂rational economic person＂ cannot lead to establishment of the public value and mood of the ＂social-cultural person＂. The author points out that separation of ＂the public and private domains＂ in the current social transitional pcriod has placed the issues concerning the mission of public causes and responsibility high on the agenda of priority. It means that it is time that we re-establish the survival concept based on ＂shared benefits＂ and ＂community of civil society＂, and consider it an ideal choice of value for a new social system.
