As the biggest mediator in Germany, Goethe Institute is one of the primary operational institutions for German cultural and educational foreign policy. Its basic tasks include promoting the study of German abroad, encouraging international cultural exchange, and fostering knowledge about Germany. This article intends to review the history and status of Goethe Institute so as to derive some beneficial implications to the development of Chinese Confucius Institute.
