20世纪30年代,新桂系政府采取一系列措施发展广西医疗卫生事业,从机构设置、资金投入、医疗人才培养到日常卫生设施多方面入手,提高了当地的医疗卫生水平。但通过对当时广西每万人拥有医生数、疫病流行次数、人口死亡率及死亡原因、死亡者年龄等指标的考察,仍可看出当时医疗卫生事业的不足。总结历史经验教训,对我们今天的医疗卫生事业及防疫、治疫工作具有一定的借鉴作用。
