Ellen Dissanayake in her Homo Aesthetics brings up the concept of species-centrism in art, that is, treating art from the perspective of biologic aesthetics. Dissanayake holds that human beings are creatures born with aesthetic and artistic orientation and art is an evolutionary factor in human nature.
