The Significance of the Research on NP Ellipsis in Narrative Texts

NP省略的研究意义首先是指其类型学意义，包括句法位置相同、顶针省略、句法位置不同三类型；其次是省略内部条件的发掘意义，包括省略的条件、省略NP的恢复方式等，其中以主语NP承前省略跨越的小句数量为最多；第三是省略的难度等级的区分意义，由于各项省略在不同语料等级中出现的类型、频率不同，因而由易到难的顺序表现为：句法位置相同的省略→顶针省略→句法位置不同的省略。

Firstly, the article discusses the typological significance of the study of NP ellipsis, including the same location of syntax, the ending-beginning ellipsis, and the different syntactic positions. Secondly, it discusses the implied significance for the internal conditions of the NP ellipsis, including its conditions, the most numerous spanning small sentences, its rules to terminate, the ways to resume the NP ellipsis and so on. Thirdly, it expounds the significance of the degree differentiation. The different types of ellipsis are used in different materials with different kinds of frequency, so the order shows the feature from easiness to difficulty： the same location of syntax, ending-beginning ellipsis, and different syntactical positions.
