On the Transcendent Functions of Culture in Societal Building

在社会大系统中,政治、经济、文化三个子系统,具有不同的目标和功能,不能互相取代。在确认市场经济是现阶段社会经济运作的最有效、最直接的动力源泉的同时,弘扬文化取向中的真善美价值,强化文化的超越性功能,是在建立健全社会的系统工程任务中一项不可或缺的组成部分。

In the large-scale system of society, the three subsystems--politics, economy and cuhure--have distinct goals and functions and cannot replace each other. Affirmatively, market economy is the most effective and most direct source of motive force for socio-economic functioning at current stage,and in the meantime, to promote the value of being ＂ the true, the good and the beautiful＂ in cultural orientation and to consolidate the transcendent functions of the culture are an indispensable constituent part of the task in the system engineering of constructing a healthy society.
