On August 11, Fan Gang was appointed member of the currency policy panel. Fan Gang has given distinctive but accurate prediction with regard to the macro development of Chinese economy. In 2003, he warned the overgrowth of Chinese economy twice which unfortunately has become true this year. It is probable that the central bank, appointing Fan Gang who is unfamiliar with finance as member, hopes to take more about the macro development of Chinese economy into consideration when laying down currency policy.
