Clinical and EEG Characteristics of Benign Childhood Epilepsy with Centro-temporal Spikes

目的:总结伴中央-中颞棘波灶的儿童良性癫痫(BECTS)的临床特点及脑电图特征。方法:对218例BECTS患儿的临床资料和脑电图进行回顾性分析。结果:BECTS主要表现为面部抽搐、流涎、发作性肢体阵挛或强直,发作与睡眠关系密切。脑电图背景活动正常,中央-中颞区出现成串或单一的高波幅的棘波,可局限于一侧半球,也可从一侧半球转移至对侧半球。结论:BECTS是一种特殊癫痫综合征,预后良好,及时而正确的诊断有助于治疗。

Objective： To summarize the clinical and EEG characteristics of benign epilepsy of childhood with centrotemporal spikes （BECTS）. Methods： The clinical and EEG data of 218 children with BECTS were retrospectively analyzed. Results： The cases mainly presented facial convulsions, sialorrhea and limb tonic-clonic seizures. The characteristics of EEG change showed numerous or single slow spikes of high amplitude on the centrotemporal area under the background of the normal activity of the children. The changes could be limitted in unilateral hemisphere and could also move from one side to the opposite side. Conclusion： BECTS has the fine prognosis. The early diagnosis is helpful for the patients＇ treatment.
