The scheme aimed at incorporating corporate income tax for domestic and foreign-funded businesses has recently been approved by the State Council and is expected to be submitted soon to the NPC Standing Committee for review. Though it is not clear for the moment whether the new corporate income tax law will be voted upon at the NPC and CPPCC next year and come effect as of January 1, 2008 as originally planned given the wide divides in views, it is only a matter of time before the corporate income tax laws are combined. The paper provides a quantitative analysis here of the potential changes in listed companies°profits after the income tax incorporation is developed.
