Importance and Significance of Classical Chinese Literature Education

古代的文学范畴是十分广泛的,文学教育是大文学教育,也就是文化教育。古代的文学教育途径与整个古代教育相一致,主要有学校教育、家庭教育、社会教育等。文学教育实践活动也促进了文学教育的发展。文学教育在中国古代有很强的功利性,即道德教化功能、经世致用功能及提高文学创作和欣赏水平。古代文学教育的价值与意义在于传承文化,树立经典,服务现实,塑造人格,发展学术,促进创作。

Chinese literature education in ancient times covered extremely extensive categories, so it was actually education of humanities in every sense. In conformity with general classical education, it took form of school education, family education and social education. Moreover, literature education in ancient Chinese was of apparent utilitarian nature, developing the sense of morality, training the ability of living and working in society and raising the level of literary writing and appreciation. To sum up, the value of literature education in ancient China lies in carrying cultural traditions, setting up models, serving the reality, building up personality, advancing academic studies and promoting cooperation.
