Reflections on Contemporary Research on Self-access English Learning in China——A Survey of Articles Published in the Major Linguistics Journals in China in the Past Decade

对过去10年中(1996-2005)刊登在国内外语类主要期刊上有关英语自主学习研究的文章进行检索统计,通过对研究现状的分析发现,目前研究中存在着内容重复、实证性研究比例偏低、对学习主体研究相对薄弱等问题。预测未来自主学习研究将呈现如下趋势:研究范围更加广泛、多种研究方法结合并用、研究对象以学习者为主体、计算机软件和网络等手段将用于自主学习能力的培养。

A survey of articles concerning English self-access learning in China, as published in the major linguistic journals in the past decade, shows that there has been a steady increase in the number of papers in this field of study. The research covers a wide range of topics in relation to self-access English learning. In regard to research methods, non-material research plays a dominant role, with empirical studies taking up a small percentage. Further analysis reveals that certain problems exist in contemporary research, such as repetitious research on some topics, disproportionate use of the empirical research method, inadequate attention paid to the learner. It is predicted that future studies on English self-access learning will cover a wider range of topics, make a balanced and combine use of different research methods. give orioritv to the learner and make better use of computer software and the Internet.
