Various defective cocoons in unsorted cocoon silk reeling will influence in varying degrees on raw silk quality indices. By detsiled analysing the variety of defective cocoons and factors affecting raw silk shade, cleanness and heatness, as well as factors causing tender raw silk, this paper pionts out that it is necessary to employ different cocoon-sorting processes for different lots of cocoons according to the influence of various defective cocoons on raw silk quality indices, so as to properly use defective cocoons without impairing quality grade.As a result, a better economic efficiency is obtained.
