The document of ＂Gazetteer of Shanghai Mosque Establishing the Trustees Board＂ recorded the historical event of founding the Trustees Board and this organization＇s background and administrative structure. Its establishment reflected the Muslim community＇s demand of winning survival competition and maintaining its unique cultural tradition. Also, the state in the Board＇s directors and functional departments, the mosque＇s assets, religious activities and education showed that the establishment of the Board represented Shanghai＇s Muslim community＇s efforts to carry out reforms so as to adapt itself to rapid developments in Shanghai. Hence, the event was of significance in Chinese Islam.
