任意性原则不仅仅是所指与能指任意结合的问题,其结合的前提也是任意性原则的重要因素。潜在的所指与能指是否预先现成地存在着,这使得任意性原则可分为“前设任意性原则”和“纯粹任意性原则”。作为“纯粹的价值系统”的语言,是由纯粹任意性原则产生的。

The principle of pure arbitrariness is not only the question that a signified integrates with a signifier. The premise of the integration is an important element of the principle as well. There is another question lying behind; whether potentially ready--made signified and signifier exist in advance or not. This makes it essential that the principle of arbitrariness is divided into ＂presuppositional arbitrariness＂ and ＂pure arbitrariness＂, As a system of pure value, language is a product of the principle of pure arbitrariness.
