《兰花梦奇传》是晚清一部反映女性在父权、夫权压迫下的悲剧命运的小说,在当时大量涌现的反映中国女性接受西方先进思想后迅速获得自我解放的同类作品中,属于异类。作品形象地展示了这样一个当时为人们所忽略的重大问题:中国女性的真正解放需要几代人的努力,女权主义思想要被国人彻底接受更是一个漫长的过程,不可能一蹴而就。

＂The Strange Life of Lan Huameng＂ is a novel reflected the tragical destiny of the woman character under the dual oppression of paternity and manus in late Qing Dynasty. This is a unique novel when there were a large number of works reflecting the women＇s quick liberation after Chinese new women accepted the Western thoughts, This novel vividly displayed a serious problem easily neglected by the people of that time： the real liberation of women needed the efforts of several generations and it would take a long time for the Chinese people to accept the feminist thoughts which could not be realized right now.
