From the Third Force to NATO The Change of equipollence of the Britain after the World War Ⅱ

战后初期,英国外交经历了从寻求建立第三种力量,企图与美苏平起平坐,到推动建立北大西洋联盟,拉住美国保卫欧洲和英国的安全的变化过程。这一转变受英国国力衰弱、美国的欧洲政策、冷战的爆发的影响。

After the World War Ⅱ ,The British foreign secretary Bevin had sought for the foundation of the third force, attempting to keep his position of one of the ＂ Big Three＂. So he tried hard to unite Western Europe and set up the Western Europe Group. However, with the emergence of the Cold War and the decline of UK, The Britain failed to afford the Third Force and balance the power of America and Soviet Union. Therefore, the Britain transformed her foreign policy from the third force to North Atlantic Treaty Organization, depending on America to contain Soviet Union.
