湘西会战简论

A Brief Comments on Xiangxi Decisive Battle

湘西会战是日本侵略者在中国战场上发动的最后一次进攻战,目的是为了夺取国民党空军芷江机场,为进攻四川建立前沿阵地,同时籍以挽救孤悬于太平洋战场上日军。但是,由于国民党官兵的浴血奋战、广大湘西民众的积极支援、陆军空军的协同配合、加上国民党战略战术运用正确,击败了日军的进攻,取得湘西会战的胜利。这一胜利的意义不仅仅在于会战击退了日军的进攻,保卫了芷江机场,更重要的在于它揭开了国民党正面战场反攻的序幕,成了国民党正面战场反攻的起点,同时也为芷江受降做好了准备。

Xiangxi decisive battle was a last assault battle that Japanese invader launched in China. The purpose was to destroy Zhijiang airport of KMT, build a front position for assaulting Sichuan and save the Japan array who was insular in the Pacific field. But KMT acquired triumph because of KMT army hero＇s fighting, Xiangxi people＇s positive support, ground force and air force＇s cooperation and KMT＇s correct stratagies and tactics,： The meaning of this triumph not only beat off the assault of Japanese invader and guarded Zhijiang airport, but opened the prelude and turned into beginning of counterattack of KMT field. Meanwhile it made a preparation for accepting surrender of Japannese aggressors in Zhijiang.
