老年居住建筑的无障碍设计是以老年人普遍性的生理和心理特征为依据来进行的，其最终目的是通过对建筑或者环境的改良设计来弥补老年人所丧失或削弱的生理及心理机能，从而提高他们生活自理能力．改善他们的生活质量。
The barrier-free design in eiders＇ dwellings is based on the physiological and psychological characteristics of elders. It＇s basic purpose is to compensate elders＇ weakened physiological and psychological ability so to promote their living environment.
