基地位于北京第三使馆区，繁忙的亮马挢路和风格各异的街区，显示出它周边地区的特色。建筑群自我定向的设计理念是根据其地理位置发展而来的．空间界线把基地分成几个明确定义的开放空间。它们之间相互影响．形成边界和通道．重复着中国传统的建筑结构的成组模式。

The site is located in the city＇s 3rd diplomats district; the much used road Liangmaquiao-Lu and the heterogeneous neighbourhood characterize the surrounding area. The concept of a self orientated building complex was developed from this situation, with strong spatial edges dividing the site In clearly defined open spaces. An interplay of open spaces, delimitation and openings is crated, repeating the Chinese tradition of the grouping of building structures.
