The paper briefly introduces the evolving process of Japanese library law from its generation to maturity. Then it expatiates the background, process and content of several primary Japanese library laws which have the impact on the promotion of Japanese libraries. The research on the history of Japanese library law will bring enlightenment and references to the legislation of Chinese library law.
