党的十六大报告中指出:“解决台湾问题、实现祖国的完全统一,我们寄希望于台湾人民。台湾同胞具有光荣的爱国主义传统,是发展两岸关系的重要力量。”作为中华文化的重要组成部分,闽南文化在争取台湾民心,促进祖国和平统一的伟大进程中,具有独特的作用和价值。在新的历史时期,通过加强闽南文化研究、密切两岸文化交流合作、加快载体建设、注重发挥民间力量,进一步弘扬闽南文化,对于促进两岸同胞的相互了解,增进共识,争取台湾民心,增强台湾同胞对祖国大陆的认同感和两地同胞同根同祖的感情意识,切实推动祖国统一大业进程具有重大的现实意义。

In Communist Party of China＇s 16 big reports pointed out：to solves the Taiwan problem, realize the motherland complete unification, we place hopes in the pepole in Taiwan. The Taiwan compatriots have the honorable patriotism tradition, who take an important part in developing two banks relations.As the Chinese cuhure important constituent, the Minnan culture in winning the Taiwan public support, promoting in the motherland peaceful unification great advancement, has the unique function and the value. In the new historical period, we should strengthen the Minnan culture research, close cultural exchange cooperation of both banks, speed up the carrier construction, pay attention to folk strength, further bring honor to the Minnan culture. To promote the both banks compatriot＇s mutual understanding, and the mutual recognition, win the Taiwan public support, strengthen sympathy to the motherland mainland for the Taiwan compatriots .For compatriots in both banks have the root with ancestor＇s sentimental consciousness.
