摘要
严格服务质量(QOS)要求下,传统的IEEE 802.11无线局域网不支持实时流量,因此,IEEE 802.11e工作组致力于改进现有的802.11 MAC以使其支持延时敏感的多媒体应用,如无线局域网中的实时音频与实时视频。目前IEEE 802.11e MAC层草案已被拟定。本文对IEEE 802.11e进行了综述,并分析了其服务质量的局限性。首先,本文在介绍传统IEEE 802.11 MAC的基础上分析了其为基站提供QOS服务时存在的问题;接着,文章详细研究了IEEE 802.11e MAC,并指出与传统802.11e MAC相比IEEE 802.11e MAC所作出的改进,并对这些改进进行了分析。
The Legacy IEEE 802.11 WLAN is not able to support real time flows with strict QoS requirements. Thus, the IEEE 802. lie working group aims to enhance the current 802.11 MAC to support delay -sensitive multimedia applications ,such as real -time voice and video,in Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). Till now a draft of the IEEE 802.11 e MAC Layer has been proposed. A comprehensive survey of all 802.11 MAC Layer is presented and its QoS limitations are analyzed. First, the Legacy IEEE 802.11 MAC is presented and problems are analyzed in providing QoS service to stations. Then, the IEEE 802. 11e MAC is studied in detail and its improvements are detemined and analyze compared with the legacy 802.11 MAC.
