《聊斋志异》的语言具有诗歌语言的含蓄、凝练、意境和情味,体现出诗美的特征。具体表现在三个方面:一是叙事过程中的古典浪漫;二是绘景时刻意营造古朴空灵的意境;三是写人时致力于形象独特的神韵。

Language in Strange Stories of Liaozhai, as in poems, is implicit, concise and full of image. It is of the characteristics of poetic beauty in terms of the following three aspects. Firstly, it draws upon the features of classic romanticism in narration. Secondly, it creates the archaic and eerie atmosphere in describing the environment. Thirdly, it presents the peculiar disposition of the figures in portraying characters.
