从指称的分类与远近特征入手,对英汉双向语料(《阿丽斯漫游奇境记》)进行统计分析,描述了英汉远近指称不对称的基本表现,论证了不对称性的语用根源———心理距离。

Based on a literature review and a data analysis, this paper explores the inequivalence of distal and proximate demonstratives between Chinese and English. With the parallel corpus of Alice＇s Adventures in Wonderland, it concludes that the inequivalence results from the pragmatic adjustment of psychological distance.
